It's time to find out if any of your favorite TV shows have just been nominated for an Emmy. On Wednesday, Community star Yvette Nicole Brown and Television Academy chair Frank Scherma announced the2023 Emmy Nominations.
It was a victory lap for Succession's final season. The hit drama on HBO got 27 votes, including for Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama Series, where Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, and Sarah Snook all got nods. The Last of Usand The White Lotus, two more HBO shows, are close behind with 24 and 23 nods, respectively.
The nominees for the 2023 Emmy Awards have been announced, and some of the shows with the most are Succession, The Last of Us, The White Lotus, and Ted Lasso. Pedro Pascal was nominated for The Last of Us, Jeremy Strong was nominated for Succession, Quinta Brunson was nominated for Abbott Elementary, and Jenna Ortega was nominated for Wednesday. Jenna Ortega is the second-youngest nominee for best lead actor in a comedy for her role in the Netflix show Wednesday.
Ortega is only a year older than Patty Duke, who was nominated for an Emmy in 1964 for her show, The Patty Duke Show, when she was only 17. Even though The Patty Duke Show was a comedy, Duke was nominated for an Emmy before the Emmys split the female race into comedy and drama categories. At the time, it was a prize for "Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actress in a Series."
In the program categories for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, there were a lot of shows about music. The Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Starring Rihanna (Fox) is nominated for best variety special (live). It is up against the Tonys (CBS), the Oscars (ABC), Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium (Disney+), and Chris Rock: Selective Outrage (Netflix). Last year, the first Super Bowl halftime show to win a top program Emmy was The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
This is the first time that Rihanna and Elton John have been nominated for a Primetime Emmy. If the British great wins, he'll get all of these awards. Chris Rock has won four Primetime Emmys. In 1997, his show Chris Rock: Bring the Pain won the award for best variety, music, or comedy special.
Harrison Ford didn't get nominated for Shrinking or 1923, Elizabeth Olsen didn't get nominated for Love & Death, Selena Gomez and Steve Martin didn't get nominated for their roles in Only Murders in the Building, Sarah Goldberg didn't get nominated for Barry, the cast of Saturday Night Live didn't get nominated for acting, and Yellowstone and Snowfall didn't even get a mention. Meanwhile, it was a surprise that Welcome to Chippendales and Jury Duty both got five votes each.

Most of the top 2023 Emmy nominees were for shows that we've talked about a lot over the past year. The nominations for popular shows like The White Lotus, Succession, The Bear, The Last of Us, Beef, Ted Lasso, and more were revealed Wednesday morning. Succession got the most nominations for a single show with 27. It was a great morning for HBO, which had a whopping four nominees for best drama series. Its new show, The Last of Us, had 24 votes, which was second only to HBO's own Succession. All of the nominees in some performing categories are from HBO shows.
