A historic SAG-AFTRA strike stopped Hollywood projects for months in 2023. The Screen ActorsGuild got together again to honor the best performances in movies and TV shows that year at the 2024 SAG Awards.
Oppenheimer and The Bear won the most awards that night. From strong Oscar candidates like Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. in Oppenheimer to TV hits like the ensemble cast of Succession, the night's winners gave performances that got great reviews all over the world last year.
For the first time, a big Hollywood award show, the SAG Awards, was shown live on Netflix. That meant that the events had to be changed in important ways from how they had always been done. There were not any ads. It was okay to use bad language. And winners were sometimes interviewed backstage by Tan France, who was also the co-host of the red carpet. The interviews were sometimes awkward and sometimes cute.
