Griggs was an actress on a soap opera.
Before she played Maggie Cory on Another World, she played Stephanie Hobart on One Life to Live.
She quit soap operas in 1995 and made a name for herself in horror movies like Dead Clowns and Slashers Gone Wild when she started acting again in the early 2000s.
She went to more and more conventions about scary movies.
In August 2020, Griggs went in for a regular pap smear and was told that she had stage IV cervical cancer.
A CT scan showed that there were lumps in her stomach.
Since she could no longer work, a GoFundMe was set up to help pay her medical bills.
As of Sunday, August 14, more than $19,000 had been raised.
She kept donors informed about how her treatment was going.
In February, she said that the chemotherapy wasn't helping her cancer, so she began immunotherapy.
Griggs began her career in the entertainment industry as a child star when she made an appearance on Nickelodeon's Rated K during its run from 1986 to 1988.
She was arguably best recognized for her recurring appearances in the daytime dramas One Life to Live as Stephanie Hobart and Another World as Maggie Cory in the 1990s.
Both shows aired on the ABC network.
On Thursday, August 11, the newsthat Griggs would be undergoing end-of-life care was shared on the official page that she maintained on Facebook.
There was no discussion of the immediate memorial preparations.
Over the course of the past few years, she has kept a Facebook journal detailing her issues with her health.
Because she was no longer able to work, a GoFundMe campaign to assist with the payment of her medical expenses was begun, and as of Sunday, August 14, it had already raised more than $19,000.
Throughout the entirety of her therapy, she kept her donors informed with updates.
She disclosed in February that her cancer was not responding to chemotherapy, and she subsequently began immunotherapy treatment.
