It was followed by "All Quiet on the Western Front," a German war movie on Netflix, and "The Banshees of Inisherin," an Irish dark comedy, both with nine, and "Elvis," with eight.
"Top Gun: Maverick," "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," and "Avatar: The Way of Water" all did well at the box office. They made $6, $5, and $4, respectively. In Top Gun: Maverick, from Paramount Pictures, Skydance, and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Tom Cruise plays Capt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell.
All 23 categories' finalists were announced in two parts on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, and the Motion Picture Academy's social media accounts (Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook).
